“That is a general assembly that can never be held again at FC Porto”

With the resumption of the general assembly (GA) of FC Porto, interrupted by attacks between partners, already scheduled for 9 p.m. next Monday, the former vice president of Porto, Guilherme Aguiar, believes that the work will take place safely and without problems , but warns that What was seen cannot be repeated.

In statements to TSFThe former Porto official points out that, in addition to not having given an image of democracy, “an AG like the one that was interrupted cannot happen again at FC Porto.”

“We are a club with 130 years of existence, we have a history with many AGs, which I attended for 13 years, and with very sensitive points, very heated discussions and there has never been a situation like this, it is a fact.” , acknowledges Guilherme Aguiar.

Even so, “from the moment that security conditions are guaranteed for all partners” he will attend the meeting next Monday – “and this objective has already been promised by the management,” he points out – the former blue and white vice president believes that The GA will be “as busy or as busy as the one that was interrupted,” but this time members will be able to “discuss topics that are important to the club.”

The FC Porto AG board called on members to arrive early for next Monday’s meeting and announced that it will also decide on additional security measures in the coming days.

There will be more member accreditation tables, reaching up to ten, and members who wish to do so will be able to enter the new meeting, whether or not they were in the suspended meeting.

Asked about the possibility that, in the next elections, Pinto da Costa will have competition with names like André Villas-Boas in the elections scheduled for April, the former vice president of Porto pointed out that “there is a lot of time” until then.

The appearance of other candidates “is not, in any way, a worrying situation. It is always a rejuvenation, at least for those who present themselves, knowing well the strength that Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa continues to have,” he warned.

MP opened investigation: what happened?

The Public Ministry (MP) announced this Tuesday that it opened an investigation into the incidents that occurred at the Extraordinary General Assembly of FC Porto, suspended on Monday.

“Taking into account the events that occurred at FC Porto AG, which began on November 13, were widely reported in the media and were likely to be part of crimes of a public nature, it was determined to open an investigation, which is set out in DIAP [Departamento de Investigação e Ação Penal] of the Public Ministry of Porto,” said the agency.

The president of the AG board, José Lourenço Pinto, suspended work after a hectic main session with confrontation between the members, which focused on the deliberation of the new statutes of the national soccer runners-up, but, faced with the strong participation, changed location at the last minute.

The extraordinary GA was to begin at 9 p.m., in an auditorium at the Estádio do Dragão, with capacity for almost 400 people, a figure much smaller than the thousands of members who gathered nearby, and the MAG moved the work to the Arena Pavilion Dragão, which has more than 2,000 spectators on match days.

The main meeting resumed after 10:30 p.m., but several people left the place shortly after, after altercations in the stands, as demonstrated by the videos published on social networks and the stories of the members who managed to enter.

The work was then suspended and rescheduled for November 20, at 9 p.m., at the Dragão Arena, and the management of FC Porto condemned the lack of respect, assuring that it will use “the means at its disposal to identify those responsible for physical attacks and will mobilize the social bodies”, in order to initiate a disciplinary file.

The hypothetical adoption of electronic and postal voting, a minimum seniority of 15 years, instead of the current 10, to run for president or access to the right to vote after two uninterrupted years as a member are some of the changes being debated.

Prepared by the Superior Council, FC Porto’s advisory body, the document protects the maintenance of the majority of SAD’s share capital against a possible entry of new investors, also expanding the opening to do business between the heads of the governing bodies and the dragons. , since they safeguard the “clear interest of the club.”

Any modification of the statutes will require a two-thirds vote in favor for approval, coming into force the day after the publication of the public deed, which must be carried out within the following 30 days in the Commercial Registry.
