Porto AG postponed. Nuno Lobo agrees and does not “understand the need to change the statutes”

The candidate for the presidency of FC Porto Nuno Lobo welcomed this Wednesday the postponement of the General Assembly (GA) of FC Porto, after the attacks, stating that he did not understand “initially the need for this change in statutes, even more so with the points that were under discussion and, therefore, perhaps, the enormous and massive support of the fans.

After the clashes at the beginning of the week, the Extraordinary AG of FC Porto, rescheduled for next week, risks not taking place, according to the TSF. This is because the statutory revision that would be voted on at this meeting could fail.

The possibility of the document being withdrawn from the consideration of Porto members and that the current statutes be maintained until the Porto context is more favorable is being considered. For the statutory change to be approved, the proposal would have to be approved by 75% of the partners.

Nuno Lobo considers that “it was very little time” to hold a new meeting “after the atrocities that occurred on the 13th.”

“I think this time should be for a person to think and rethink what was done, unfortunately, on the night of November 13,” he says.

In this way, the current statutes can be maintained until the context in the Porto universe is more favorable to the discussion of the document.

The candidate in the last elections for the presidency of the Dragons highlights that this scenario did not occur in the 2020 elections, arguing that it is necessary to “have a basis of respect”, regardless of whether there are differences of opinion. Nuno Lobo confesses, therefore, that he hopes that in the future there will be a calmer climate to discuss the modification of the statutes and asks for respect within the club.

“I may not agree – as I did not agree and I do not agree – with many of the positions adopted by this management of FC Porto, regarding various issues, but that does not mean that I, my list and the people who are With me we are “We are going to use violence as a throwing weapon. “It has no place at all,” he guarantees.

The FC Porto partner defines “the word” as his preferred “weapon”, and adds that in the AG “there was no such thing.”

“It was the law of force, of the use of violence,” he laments.

The review of the statutes in question, prepared by the Superior Council (the club’s advisory body), foresees that the FC Porto elections, which are normally held in April, could now be held until June. In addition, it required members to have two years of uninterrupted senior membership or two years of uninterrupted membership interspersed, one in the senior category and one in the junior category, to be able to vote, that is, no 18-year-old could vote. vote in elections.

The president of the club, Pinto da Costa, spoke out against this revision of the statutes, who in the General Assembly on Monday stated that he was against the point that prevented 18-year-olds from voting and assumed that he had a commitment to the president. of the Council of the General Assembly, José Lourenço Pinto, so that next year’s elections will be held in April, although they could be held until June.
