IPDJ creates page to protect athletes in case of abuse

The Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ) announced this Thursday that it has made available on its official website a page dedicated to the protection of practitioners in cases of abuse, harassment and other forms of violence in sports contexts.

In a statement, the organization explained that “the page is aggregated in the same space as channels of complaints or support for victims, made available by various entities, namely the National Observatory of Violence Against Athletes (ISMAI), the Portuguese Football Federation, the Victim Support Association (APAV), including the National Commission for the Promotion of the Rights and Protection of Children and Youth”.

The IPDJ recalls that it has a “zero tolerance policy” in this area and ensures that children and young people in sport actively promote an environment in which children and young people are better protected, for example the campaign ‘Start to Talk – Quebrar o Silêncio’ , a Council project from Europe that has been dynamizing in Portugal since 2018.
