The proposal to review the statutes of FC Porto, which should have been deliberated by the members of the Dragons on Monday, was withdrawn this Thursday by the Superior Council, three days after the suspension of the extraordinary General Assembly (AG).
The decision arose from a meeting held late in the afternoon between the members of that advisory body, who ratified “unanimously” and in the “best interest” of the ‘blue and white’ a motion to withdraw the statutory review proposal prepared by them, whose evaluation required a two-thirds vote in favor, but did not even happen in the General Assembly.
In a statement published on the official FC Porto website on the Internet, the Superior Council, which is intrinsically chaired by the leader of the General Assembly Council (MAG), José Lourenço Pinto, stated that it seeks to “appease the division that wants to be born in the Porto family.
The work had been suspended on Monday by the MAG and then rescheduled for November 20, at 9 p.m., at the Dragão Arena, after an intense important meeting with confrontation between the members, which, given the large participation, changed location at the last moment, going from an auditorium at the Estádio do Dragão to the club’s pavilion.
The next day, the management of FC Porto condemned the lack of respect and assured that it will use “the means at its disposal to identify those responsible for the physical attacks and will mobilize social organizations”, with a view to opening a disciplinary file, while that the Public Ministry (MP) opened an investigation into the incidents recorded at the Dragão Arena.
José Lourenço Pinto must now, as president of the MAG, complete the legal procedures to cancel the main meeting postponed to next Monday.
