Charles Leclerc takes pole position for the Las Vegas Grand Prix

The Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) took pole position this Friday for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, in his return to Formula 1 in the gambling city of the United States.

After a less good day in free practice on Thursday, the two Ferrari drivers achieved the two best times, with Leclerc coming out happier, taking his fifth pole of the season, the 23rd of his career.

Carlos Sainz, despite the result, will have to leave 10 places behind, after changing an engine part, after hitting a drain plug, which disturbed the first free practice session on Thursday.

“I’m happy, of course, for the first time in Las Vegas. I’m a little disappointed with my Q3, in which I didn’t do a great job, but it was enough for pole. Now, let’s try to prepare everything to try to win here,” he declared. Leclerc at the end.

Along with Leclerc will be the Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who has already won his third consecutive world title, after winning 17 of the 20 races of the season.

On the second line will be the British George Russell (Mercedes), in third place, and the Frenchman Pierre Gasly (Alpine), surprise of the day.

As for the two drivers still fighting for second place, both were eliminated in Q2, with the British Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) in tenth place and the Mexican Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) in the position immediately after.

The penultimate Grand Prix of the World Cup will take place tonight in Las Vegas (06:00 Sunday in Lisbon).
