Sporting took on the role of favorite and easily secured a place in the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup on Sunday, beating Duminense, a team that plays in the Portuguese championship, 8-0 in Alvalade.
At halftime the Lions were already 2-0 ahead, with goals from Neto (8′) and Paulinho (28′).
In the second half it rained goals, with Trincão (46′), Coates (53′), Paulinho again (58′ and 71′), Nuno Santos (75′, penalty) and Gyökeres (83′) scoring the final result.
This match was special for center Sebastian Coates, not only because of the goal scored, but because he caught Anderson Polga as the foreign player with the most games played for the Lions, in a total of 342.
The 33-year-old Uruguayan has been playing for Alvalade since January 2016, first rented from Sunderland and permanently as a Sporting player from 2017.
