The RNF team, in which the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira raced, does not have a contract to compete in the 2024 MotoGP season, the bodies responsible for the competition announced today.
“The MotoGP Selection Committee, which includes members of the FIM [Federação Internacional de Motociclismo]from IRTA [associação de equipas] and dorna [organizador]decided not to select the CryptoDATA RNF team for the 2024 season,” reads a MotoGP statement.
In the same document, the decision is justified by “repeated infringements and breaches of the participation agreement, which affect the public image of MotoGP.”
“The Selection Committee will review applications for a new independent team, which will use Aprilia engines, to join the MotoGP grid in 2024,” the organization states.
Miguel Oliveira joined the Aprilia satellite team this season, after racing for KTM in his first four seasons in MotoGP and, like Spaniard Raúl Fernández, has a direct contract with the Italian manufacturer for 2024.
The Portuguese finished the championship in 16th position, with 76 points, in a season with several incidents and injuries that kept him out of some races, having even missed the last Grand Prix, in Valencia, on Sunday.
