Rosa Mota wins the Macau minimarathon at age 65

The Portuguese Rosa Mota won this Sunday, at the age of 65, the Macau mini-marathon, the third triumph of the former Olympic champion in the competition.

“It went well. The weather was fantastic, there was no humidity. Of course, I’m happy to have won, obviously, and I’m happy to see this great party, this crowd,” the former world and European champion. he told Lusa.

Rosa Mota had already won the race in 2018 and 2019, and returned to Macau this year, after a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The love we receive is what remains, those are the great trophies. I already missed this, because during the pandemic we were always very separated. It is good to see each other again,” he highlighted.

The 6.3 kilometer mini-marathon was one of the events this Sunday at the Macau International Marathon.

The Ethiopian Debele Fikadu Kebebe was the winner of the marathon, followed by the Kenyans Kiptoo Edwin Kibet and Paul Katisa Matheka.

In the women’s race, an Ethiopian, Zinashwork Yenew Ambi, also won, also supported by the Kenyans Rodah Jepkorir Tanui and Tecla Kirongo.

Around 12 thousand participants from 47 countries and regions attended the event.
