Varzim’s coach, Tiago Margarido, who plays in Liga 3, promised this Saturday a team to play “face to face”, on Sunday, against Sporting, in the third round match of the Portuguese Football Cup.
“We anticipate many difficulties, against a team from the I League, but because of the DNA we have, looking each rival in the eye, we will try to win the match. It’s one more game on our long road”, guaranteed the coach.
Tiago Margarido, a young 33-year-old coach, who this season has taken charge of the poveiro team, analyzed the ‘lions’ as a team “very strong in the inside game and in deep attack, with three mobile forwards, who create great variability to the game”, but guaranteed a “prepared” Varzim.
“We are going to want to have the ball, assume the game without fear, nullifying the positive points of the rival. We did not negotiate our dedication, career and intensity and in that I can guarantee that Sporting will not be better than us”, stressed the coach.
Regarding the possibility of Sporting making some changes to the team, Tiago Margarido recalls that Alvalade’s squad “has such a homogeneous squad that even rotating it maintains quality and creates maximum difficulty for the rival”.
However, regarding the recent run of less positive results for the ‘lions’, the coach of the Liga 3 team hopes “that he can move the Sporting players emotionally, and that Varzim can take advantage of it”.
As for the match being played in Barcelos, since the Varzim stadium is under construction, Tiago Margarido doesn’t see that as a disadvantage.
“It is a stadium that provides all the conditions for this match, and we will surely have the support of our faithful fans, who accompany us wherever we go”, he anticipated.
The clash between Varzim and Sporting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. this Sunday, at the Cidade de Barcelos stadium, and will be refereed by Bruno Costa, from the Viana do Castelo association.
