Sporting isolated themselves at the top of the I Liga this Monday, by beating FC Porto 2-0 at home, in the match that closes the 14th day.
The lions scored early, at 11 minutes. Launched at speed by Matheus Reis, the Swede Gyokeres withstood Pepe’s pressure, turned and shot low, placing the ball near the near post. Sérgio Conceição even asked for Gyokeres’ hand on a rebound in the duel with Pepe, but the referee did not signal anything.
Nine minutes after Pepe was sent off, Sporting made it 2-0. Catamo threw Gyokeres deep. The Swede, on the right, gave it to Pote and the Portuguese deflected it towards the goal.
With this victory, Sporting has 34 points, one more than Benfica and three more than FC Porto.
