The Court of Justice of the European Union gave this Thursday reason for the European Super League in the dispute he had with UEFA and FIFA.
The European court wrote in the statement released this morning that UEFA and FIFA cannot maintain a “dominant abuse of power.”
The EU adds that: “The FIFA and UEFA rules that subject any project for a new club football competition, such as the Super League, to prior authorization and that prohibit clubs and players from participating in these same competitions, under penalty of sanctions . they are illegal”, you can read in the document.
The decision came this morning in a Luxembourg-based court, with a group of judges announcing the ruling by the European Court of Justice.
The SuperLiga was announced on April 18, 2021. At the time it was founded by 12 clubs; AC Milan, Arsenal, Atlético de Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham. But due to pressures from various clubs, players, entities and even politiciansHours after being announced, several founding emblems started to abandon the project.
Bernd Reichart, general director of A22, promoter of the Super League, has already reacted on the social network: “Decide your own future. For fans: we will broadcast all Super League matches for free. For clubs: income is guaranteed” .
