The footballer Pepe, from FC Porto, was suspended this Thursday for two games after his expulsion against Sporting, in the classic that ended the 14th day of the I Football League.
In a match with Sporting player Matheus Reis, in the 51st minute, the Porto defender, who directly saw the red, was considered “guilty of violent conduct” for “attacking an opponent with a punch in the face”, for what he will miss the next game. Two dragon challenges.
The sanction imposed by the Disciplinary Council (CD) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) will prevent the defender from facing Leixões, in the League Cup, and Desportivo de Chaves, in the championship, on Saturday, both in the Dragão Stadium.
The expulsion ordered by referee Nuno Almeida occurred after being alerted by the VAR to analyze the play. Pepe was also fined 1,200 euros.
Sporting won 2-0 and thus isolated themselves in first place, with 34 points, followed by Benfica, with 33, and FC Porto, with 31.
On the sanctions map, CD FPF is still waiting for clarifications regarding Porto coach Sérgio Conceição and Hugo Viana, sporting director of Sporting, who had a disagreement at the end of Monday’s match.
