Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti has extended his contract with Real Madrid for two seasons, until June 30, 2026, the club that leads the Spanish football league announced on Friday.
The brief statement published on Real Madrid’s official website ends the possibility that Ancelotti, 64, could take on the role of Brazil coach, as reported by Spanish and Brazilian media.
“In five seasons as coach of Real Madrid, [Ancelotti] won 10 titles: two Champions Leagues, two Club World Cups, two European Super Cups, one Spanish League, two King’s Cups and one Spanish Super Cup,” said the Merengues.
Real Madrid not only refers to the current career of the Italian coach, which started in the 2021/22 season, but also to his previous period at the club from the Spanish capital (2013/14 and 2014/15), succeeding the Portuguese coach José Mourinho.
“Carlo Ancelotti is the only coach to have won four Champions Leagues and the one to have the most victories in this competition (118), and he is also the first coach to have won the five main European competitions (Italy, England, France) , Germany and Spain),” Real Madrid noted.
‘Carletto’ has already managed the Madrilenians in 260 matches, of which they won 189, drew 33 and lost 38, and the extension comes at a time when the club leads the Spanish championship, level on points with Girona, thanks to the better difference between marked and suffered targets.
The former Italian international midfielder has a long career as a coach, during which he guided some of the best European clubs such as Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Naples.
