“Go to your monkey country”. Fan who insulted player away from sports fields

The Authority for the Prevention and Combating Violence in Sport (APCVD) banned 68 fans from sports venues in the last quarter. In total, the Authority has issued 544 convictions since January 1, and 230 measures forbidding access to sports venues have come into force. “According to figures from the National Sports Information Point, which is managed by the PSP, about 250 fans are currently not allowed to enter the sports locations, 180 of which are by decision of the APCVD,” the organization said in a note on Wednesday. .

Most banned supporters have been identified by the police for using fireworks in sports shows and have been linked to organized groups (claques). Throwing objects, acts or incitement to violence, racism, xenophobia and bigotry are other reasons that led to the ban on these supporters. And while it won’t count towards the next stats, another racist supporter was removed from sports venues by APCVD last week.

After uttering phrases such as “go to your monkey country”, referring to a player, the man was identified by the GNR and later the subject of an administrative violation procedure for “committing acts or inciting violence, racism, xenophobia and bigotry in de sport”, preventively denied access to sports fields.

The incident took place on September 25, in a match between Clube Desportivo de Estarreja and Oliveira do Bairro Sport Clube, in the 1st round of the South Zone elite championship of the Aveiro Football Association.

The suspect has already been notified of the decision and if he does not abide by the precaution, he will commit the offense of disobedience and could be detained. If he is found guilty, he risks a fine of one thousand euros to ten thousand euros and he can be banned from sports venues for up to 2 years.
