Manchester United announced on Thursday that Cristiano Ronaldo has been removed from the team that will face Chelsea on Saturday.
“Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad for Saturday’s game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for the match,” the club wrote in a statement, without giving further details.
The Portuguese player left the pitch earlier in Wednesday’s game against Tottenham, having spent the full 90 minutes on the bench.

Erik Ten Hag, coach of the Red Devils, revealed, after the final whistle, that he would deal with the matter later. “I didn’t talk to him. I didn’t pay attention to him, I’ll deal with him tomorrow. I want to keep the focus on the team,” he said.
According to The Athletic, the Portuguese player trained alone this Thursday, after refusing to come on from the bench in the match against Spurs.
The current season has been busy for the Portuguese footballer. Even before the official competitions began, Cristiano Ronaldo did not attend United’s pre-season work. Erik Ten Hag maintained confidence in the striker’s continuity, but the rumors about his departure were increasing.
However, no transfer took place and the athlete was part of the Red Devils, but almost always starting the games on the substitute bench. In 2022/2023, Cristiano Ronaldo has played 690 minutes, spread over 12 games, and scored just two goals.
