Manchester United climbed this Sunday to fifth place in the English Football League with a home win over West Ham (1-0), with three Portuguese players in the eleven, including Cristiano Ronaldo, at the end of matchday 14.
At Old Trafford, the English international Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the match, in the 38th minute, but the ‘hero’ of the ‘red devils’ turned out to be the Spanish goalkeeper De Gea, who kept the lead with a handful of good saves , especially in the final minutes of the match.
Rashford even reached 100 goals in official matches for Manchester United, the club in which he has developed all his training and career to date.
Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo were all starters and full-timers for the home team, with the Portuguese national team captain scoring 90 minutes in a row for the first time this season.
For only the second time this season, Ronaldo started two games in a row for Dutchman Erik ten Hag’s team.
This result, the fifth game unbeaten in the Premier League after a somewhat rocky start to the competition, leaves Manchester United in fifth place with 23 points, overtaking Chelsea (beaten 4-1 in Brighton), now sixth on 21.
The ‘red devils’ are one point behind Newcastle, four in position with one game left.
On the other hand, West Ham ranks 13th with 14 points.
