Denmark ‘trades’ targets for money for migrant workers in Qatar

Of the most critical conditions under which foreigners worked in the works for the 2022 World Cup, to be played in Qatar between November 20 and December 18, the Danes will collect 10 crowns per goal, which is just over 1.34 euros.

In addition, Denmark, which is currently ranked 10th in the world rankings, will present in Qatar with a different top uniform and a black alternative, to honor those who have died, been injured or maimed in recent years in the construction of stadiums, the metro network, roads and hotels in and around Doha.

Qatar has been heavily criticized in most South Asian countries for the working conditions of these foreign workers. Many died on the job, without effective safety conditions, in extreme heat, with local authorities not releasing official records of what happened.

In Denmark 55 thousand goals were scored in November 2021, so the local federation points to a fundraising of more than 70 thousand euros, under equivalent conditions.

At the 2022 World Cup, Denmark will be part of Group D along with defending champions France, Tunisia and Australia, which was also one of the most critical of the contestants, with their players participating in a video calling for reforms and changes in the host country.
