The Portuguese roller hockey team began its second-fair defense of the world title with a 5-1 victory over France, on the first day of group A, which takes place in San Juan, in Argentina.
Gonçalo Alves (05 minutes), João Rodrigues (06 and 15), Hélder Nunes (35) and Diogo Rafael (47) scored the goals for the team led by Renato Garrido, who won the trophy in 2019, while Anthony da Costa (49 ) signed the goal for the Gauls.
Portugal has three points, the same as Italy, which beat Chile 8-3 in the other match of the group stage, and on Tuesday the Portuguese team will face the Italians, before closing the group stage against the Chileans, in the perfect fourth.
The Roller Hockey World Cup runs through Sunday in San Juan.
