Olhanense player accuses opponent Rabo de Peixe of racist insult

Olhanense footballer Edson this Sunday accused a Rabo de Peixe player of racially insulting during a Portuguese championship game after he was ejected for complaining, while the Azores club rejected the accusation.

He gave me the yellow card and, after I spoke again, he gave me the second yellow card,” said Edson, who was sent off in the 38th minute of the game, which ended in a victory for Rabo de Peixe (2-0) and reduced the home side to eight players after two more expulsions in the second half. second half.

On the occasion of Edson’s exclusion, the match was interrupted for about five minutes, with the structure and other Olhanense players protesting to the referee.

Diogo Andrade, player of Rabo de Peixe, did not speak after the game, but the sports director of the Azores denied the accusation.

“When it happened I was sitting on the bench but my players told me that the term the Olhanense player is claiming was not the term my player said. If it happened it would be a shame, but from what the players told me said, nobody says the conversation was like that,” said Hernâni Melo.

The president of the SAD do Olhanense, Luís Torres, told Lusa that the club would protest in the match report and forward the allegation to the Portuguese Football Association.
