Marko Grujic and Uros Racic in Serbia’s World Cup squad

Midfielders Marko Grujic, from FC Porto, and Uros Racic, from Sporting de Braga, have been included this Friday in the squad of the Serbian national team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar.

The two players playing in Portugal are among the picks of coach Dragan Stojkovic, who guided Serbia to first place in the qualifying phase, relegating the Portuguese squad to the play-offs.

The Balkan squad includes several players who have passed Portugal, such as Nemanja Gudelj (ex-Sporting), Srdan Babic (ex-Famalicão) and former Benfica fans Andrija Zivkovic, Luka Jovic, Nemanja Radonjic, Filip Djuricic and Stefan Mitrovic.

As for the squad for the 2018 World Cup, 12 players remain on this list: goalkeepers Marko Dmitrovic and Predrag Rajkovic, defenders Milos Veljkovic and Nikola Milenkovic, midfielders Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Marko Grujic, Filip Kostic, Andrija Zivkovic and forwards Nemanja Radonjic , Aleksandar Mitrovic, Dusan Tadic and Luka Jovic.

In the Qatar World Cup, which runs from November 20 to December 18, Serbia is integrated into Group G along with Brazil, Switzerland and Cameroon.

Serbia is at a World Cup for the third time, after failing to progress beyond the group stage in 2010 and 2018.
