President and management of the judo federation dismissed due to incompatibilities

The president and management of the Portuguese Judo Federation (FPJ) will lose their mandate, after an investigation into incompatibilities carried out by the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), confirmed a source from that body on Tuesday.

Questioned by Lusa, the IPDJ confirmed the loss of the mandate of Jorge Fernandes, after the inquiry made to the FPJ that points out “its conclusions to non-compliance by the president of the federation.”

The same source points out to Lusa article 51 of the Legal Regime of Sports Federations (RJFD), which lists the loss of mandate of the heads of federative bodies, due to ineligibility, incompatibility or for having intervention in a contract in which they have an interest. . .

According to the same IPDJ source, the federation “has already been notified of the conclusions of the investigation” and it is up to its general assembly to dismiss the president of the board.

At stake, among other things, is Jorge Fernandes’ performance of duties at the Coimbra Judo Club, which was the subject of a complaint by the Castelo Branco Judo Association.

Jorge Fernandes became president of the Portuguese Judo Federation in 2017, being re-elected for a second term in 2020.
