Former Norway international John Carew sentenced to 14 months in prison for tax fraud

Former Norway international John Carew was sentenced this Wednesday to 14 months in prison and a fine after being tried for tax fraud at the Oslo District Court.

The accusation arose after alleged tax evasions between 2014 and 2019, in which the former athlete pleaded guilty to not declaring a taxable income of 12.8 million Norwegian crowns (about 1.2 million euros) and assets of 307 million crowns (about 31 million euros).

The player was international with Norway on 91 occasions and scored 24 goals. In his career, after leaving his native country, he represented Valencia, Roma, Besiktas, Lyon, Aston Villa, Stoke City and ended his career at West Ham United.
