Daniel Sousa, who replaces Carlos Cunha, is the new coach of Gil Vicente, the Portuguese Soccer League club announced Wednesday.
The 38-year-old Portuguese will live his first experience as a head coach, after joining the technical teams of André Villas Boas since 2009.
The new coach of Minho’s team has on his resume, as an observer and assistant coach at Villas Boas, with spells at Académica de Coimbra, FC Porto, Chelsea and Tottenham (England), Zenit (Russia), Shanghai SIPG (China). and Marseille (France).
Daniel Sousa will be Gil Vicente’s third coach this season, after Ivo Vieira, who started the season and left on matchday 11, and Carlos Cunha, coach of the club’s under-23 team, who led three games, two for the championship and one for the Portuguese Cup, and suffered the same number of defeats.
The Barcelona shield did not reveal the duration of the contract with the new coach, but reported that the official presentation of Daniel Sousa will take place this Friday.
