The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) is launching the Veste a Bandeira campaign on Wednesday, which includes a series of initiatives in social intervention and the promotion of sustainable development goals.
In a statement released this Wednesday, the FPF refers that “the International Day of Tolerance, celebrated on Wednesday, will be the starting point of a series of initiatives”, explaining that in “action, more than tolerance, values such as when diversity, acceptance, freedom, equality, recognition, empathy and happiness are promoted”.
The start of the campaign has, according to the FPF, the participation of national coaches Fernando Santos and Francisco Neto, international players Jéssica Silva, Kika Nazareth, Fifó and Janice, FPF directors João Pinto, Pauleta, Madjer and Monica Jorge and also Bebé, European and world champion futsal who is now part of the national technical team, and Cândido Costa, the ambassador of Liga 3.
The first action of the campaign will be marked by a film, with the presence of those figures, which will be released this Wednesday, and various initiatives on the occasion of the International Day of Tolerance, ahead of the preparation match between the football teams of Portugal and Nigeria , scheduled for Thursday at 6:45 p.m. at Estádio José Alvalade.
The social intervention agenda associated with the Veste a Bandeira campaign will celebrate several dates until June 2023, including the International Days of People with Disabilities, Migrants and Refugees.
FPF is a member of the Football For The Goals project, an initiative in which the United Nations (UN) and football federations are involved in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Football For The Goals project aims to inspire and guide the football world, from clubs to international federations, to benefit from and leverage existing sustainability approaches in that sport and implement strategies that lead to behavioral change.
