Germany’s Thomas Tuchel left Chelsea’s technical leadership on Wednesday after the defeat at Dinamo Zagreb (1-0), for the Football Champions League, the London club announced.
In a post on their official website, the ‘blues’ thank the 49-year-old German coach, who has led the club since 2020/21, when he led the club to win the Champions League, in Porto, against Manchester City.
“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, the club would like to express its gratitude to Thomas and his team for all their efforts during their tenure at the club. Thomas will rightfully have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the league. Supercup and the World Cup for clubs,” the club said.

The consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly, who leads Chelsea after the departure of Russian Roman Abramovich, promises to “act quickly to present a new coach”.
“While the new owners have completed 100 days since they took over the club and continue to work hard to develop it, they believe it is the right time for this change,” the club said, refusing to comment “until a new coach is introduced”.
Chelsea lost 1-0 to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday and occupy fourth and last place in Group E, without points, one behind Salzburg and AC Milan, who drew 1-1 in Austria.
Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League, with 10 points from six games, five behind rival Arsenal, who are in the lead, and four behind Manchester City and Tottenham, who have already suffered two defeats this season – with Leeds, ahead 3-0, and Southampton, 2-1.
Tuchel joined Chelsea in January 2021 as coach of Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Mainz.
