The Portuguese team is the fourth favorite to win the World Cup. The prediction is made by a simulator of the Spanish newspaper El País, which gives the team an edge over teams like England, Spain or Germany with Brazil being the clear favorite to be in the final and win the competition, who have a 21% chance of winning in the final of the World Cup.
The difference with the second favorite – France – is big, as the French team has a 12% chance of winning the match according to the simulator. The podium is closed by Argentina, with the same chance of victory. Portugal follows, with a 9% chance of winning (and an 18% chance of being in the final, giving a 50/50 ratio to win the World Cup), followed by Spain and England with 8%. O top 10 is closed by Denmark, which according to the forecasts has only a 2% chance of winning the World Cup.
But the prediction of the Spanish newspaper is not limited only to the Final of the competition, with the prediction that will be made from the round of 16, the first stage to be eliminated, where according to the the country, Portugal has an 88% chance of being. However, for the quarter-finals and semi-finals, the percentage drops significantly: 54% and 30% respectively.
