Manchester United debuted this Thursday in the Europa League with a defeat against Real Sociedad (1-0), in a Group E match, which included the Portuguese Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo.
At Manchester’s legendary Old Trafford stadium, the first half had no goals and it was after the break when the Spanish team settled the first round match, with a penalty converted by Brais Méndez, in the 59th minute.
In the ‘red devils’, Dalot started down the right wing, like Ronaldo, but in attack, still looking for the first goal at that time. Bruno Fernandes was a substitute used in midfield.
For its part, Omonia was defeated at home by Sheriff (3-0), who leads the ‘poule’ along with the Basques, both with three points.
In the other games, the Italians from Lazio, with Luís Maximiano on the ‘bench’, were superior to the Dutch from Feyenoord, 4-2, in pool F, in which Sturm Graz beat Midtjylland ( 1-0).
Monaco, from France, went to Belgrade to beat the Serbian Estrela Vermelha 1-0, with the Portuguese Gelson Martins among the substitutes, while the Hungarians from Ferencvaros received and defeated the Turks from Trabzonspor (3-2), by group H.
In G, the Gauls from Nantes and the Germans from Freiburg beat the Greeks from Olympiacos (2-1) and the Azeris from Qarabag (2-1), respectively.
