The first World Cup record holder is an amateur. Lucas watches all the games live

He is Brazilian, a soccer fan and has already broken a record in the World Cup in Qatar. Lucas Tylty, a 26-year-old influencer, became the soccer fan who watched the most matches live in a single edition of a World Cup. In Qatar, he hasn’t missed any games yet, even with a few at the same time. He now promises to continue this “odyssey” through the stadiums until the end of the competition.

A week after reaching the finish line, this Brazilian was talking to TSF and explained that the idea arose in 2018, while the World Cup in Russia was taking place. However, it was only a year later, when he visited Qatar to watch some of the Club World Cup matches, that he realized that the world record could be broken, due to the proximity of the stadiums.

Lucas Tylty surpassed the mark of a South African, who had attended 31 matches in the World Cup in South Africa. Now the record belongs to this Brazilian, who has already been in the 52 games already played in the World Cup. Interestingly, he broke the record in Portugal’s match with Uruguay. The main objective has already been achieved, but it is not stopping now: “There are many people who want to play 64 games and I want to get there so that no one can ever go beyond that mark”, says the new record holder.

With a team to help him, Lucas Tylty goes from stadium to stadium, even though the games take place at the same time, as happened on the last day of the group stage. In these cases, he has to find a way to resolve the situation: “I leave the car positioned so that I can leave the stadium quickly or if there is an accident or a lot of traffic, I take the subway,” explains the influencer. Even so, Lucas has already had a few scares, reaching only a few games in the second half. One of the most difficult tasks is when the match is at the Lusail stadium, the stadium of the final, because “it is very difficult to stop the car around the stadium, as the police block all the steps. When the match is at that stadium, we stop the car at the closest place and then I get on a motorbike and go to the stadium so as not to waste time walking”.

It is a physically and mentally exhausting mission, especially when, in the group stage, Lucas left the hotel and did not have guaranteed entry to the stadiums: “I still do not have 64 tickets. There were days that I left the hotel with only two tickets and there were four games”, reveals Lucas Tylty, explaining to TSF that some tickets are already guaranteed, largely thanks to some confederations and federations from different continents and countries that are helping to achieve this goal.

One of the most tense situations for Lucas was when he left the hotel without a ticket for the game between Belgium and Morocco and when he arrived at the gate of the stadium: “The fans of Morocco would see weight for Qatar. I was not expecting that there would be so many people I also expected more difficulties in the game in Brazil, Argentina or Spain, but not between Belgium and Morocco. I was desperate! No, I got a ticket with the Moroccan federation ten minutes after the start of the game”, says this fan soccer.

The ritual of this Brazilian in the World Cup is always the same and very rigorous. He wakes up, takes a shower, eats a lot to have energy for the day, because he knows he’s going to go a few hours without eating. He arrives at the hotel at night, exhausted, takes a shower, and goes straight to bed to sleep. Lucas is passionate about soccer. He is used to traveling to see the Copa Libertadores and also the Champions League matches. The adventure of this young man continues, whether or not he reaches all the matches until the final, the name of Lucas Tylty is already registered in the Guinness Book of World Records for 2022.
