The English football league, Premier League, postponed this weekend’s trip, after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
“At a meeting this morning, the Premier League clubs paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. To honor her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a show of respect, this weekend’s Premier League matchday of the week will be postponed, including Monday night game, ”reads a note posted on the social network Twitter.
Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, after more than 70 years of the longest reign in UK history.
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was born on April 21, 1926 in London and became Queen of England in 1952, at age 25, after the death of her father, George VI, who took over when his brother abdicated.
The 70-year reign was the longest in UK history, and his 73-year-old eldest son succeeded him as King Charles III.
