Elizabeth II died. Cristiano Ronaldo regrets “irreplaceable loss”

The Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo lamented this Friday the irreparable loss for the British people with the death of Queen Elizabeth II of England, the longest-serving monarch in the history of the United Kingdom (1952-2022).

“I spent seven years of my career in the Premier League, this being my eighth season living in England. During those years, I felt the undying love of the United Kingdom for its Queen and how important Her Majesty was and will forever be to the British people. I pay my respects to his memory and mourn this irreplaceable loss to the country I have come to call home.”

Queen Elizabeth II died Thursday, aged 96, at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, after more than 70 years of the longest reign in UK history.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family,” Cristiano Ronaldo added.

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was born on April 21, 1926 in London and became Queen of England in 1952, at age 25, after the death of her father, George VI, who took over when his brother abdicated.

After the death of the monarch, his eldest son, 73 years old, assumes the role of king as Carlos III.

Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, returned to Manchester United last season, the club he played for between 2003 and 2009.
