Portuguese lawyer Matilde Costa Dias was elected to the International Automobile Federation’s (FIA) Cost Cap Adjudication Panel (CCAP) at the organization’s general meeting in Bologna, Italy, it was announced on Wednesday.
The CCAP is an FIA committee that oversees the proper application of the financial regulations set by the governing body of motorsport worldwide.
“It is an honor to be part of such an important body in the world of motorsport. It is a huge responsibility and I am very pleased to be able to contribute to making motorsport more balanced and competitive,” said Matilda Costa Dias.
The candidacy of Matilde Costa Dias, 32 years old, who will be the first Portuguese woman to sit on the CCAP, was sponsored by the Portuguese Federation of Automobile and Karting (FPAK).
“Being a woman and coming from a country like Portugal, which wants to be more and more represented in motorsport, this election is an even greater achievement,” he added.
Matilde Costa Dias will be one of six CCAP members elected to a four-year term, renewable for the same period.
FPAK President Ni Amorim stressed the fact that Portugal “wanted to have the largest number of representatives within the FIA” and considered it “an honor” to have a Portuguese member in the CCAP.
“Our involvement in international motorsport is very high, not only in terms of the number of competitions we organize, but also in terms of organization and participation,” said Ni Amorim.
The official believes that the contribution of the FPAK and the experience of Matilde Costa Dias, of the sports law firm 14 Sports Law, “will be an added value for the application of financial regulation”.
