The center-back is in his third season at Luz, coming from Manchester City, after four years at FC Porto (2010/11 to 2013/14).
Nicolás Otamendi, together with his teammate Enzo Fernández, chosen the best young player of the tournament, also gave the first world title to the Portuguese First League, as the first footballers to win the competition while participating in the Portuguese championship.
