The Portuguese center Neemias Queta scored ten points in the victory of the Sacramento Kings in the reception to the Los Angeles Lakers, by 134-120, this Wednesday.
The Portuguese international was used for the third time this season by Mike Brown and, after making his debut in the 2022/23 season, on Monday, in the loss against the Charlotte Hornets, he scored 10 points (100% shooting) and three rebounds, in the 10.39 minutes that he was on the pitch.
A record only surpassed by the 11 points achieved against the Cleveland Cavaliers, in January 2022, in his scoring debut in the NBA, equaling the 10 achieved against the Los Angeles Clippers, also last season, in April.
Kevin Huerter, with 26 points and five rebounds, Keegan Murray, with 23 points and three rebounds, Aaron de Fox, with 22 points, four rebounds and six assists, but, above all, Domantas Sabonis, with a ‘triple-double’, with 21 rebounds, 13 points and 12 assists, he led the Kings in receiving the Californian formation.
On the Lakers side, LeBron James was the top scorer, with 31 points, to which he added 11 assists and six rebounds, ahead of Lonnie Walker and the German Dennis Schroder, with 19 and 18 points, respectively.
In the standings, the Kings are in sixth place in the West, with 17 wins and 13 losses, while the Lakers are in 13th place in the same conference, with 13 wins and 18 losses.
Neemias, who went through Barreirense and Benfica in his formation, renewed with the Kings for 2022/23, re-signing a two-way contract, which allows him to play in the first team and also in the secondary, the Stockton Kings, from the G League
The post, 22 years old and 2.13 meters tall, was the first Portuguese to join an NBA team, after being selected by the Sacramento Kings in the 39th place of the 2021 draft, held on July 29, in NY.
As a ‘rookie’ (2021/22), Neemias played 15 games with the Kings, in which he scored 45 points (3.0 average), 31 rebounds (2.1), eight tackles (0.5) and six assists (0.4), in 119.34 minutes (8.0).
