Spanish government gives 7.5 million euros for candidacy for World Cup 2030

The Spanish government on Tuesday approved a grant of 7.5 million euros to the Royal Spanish Football Federation to prepare its candidacy to host the 2030 World Cup together with Portugal and Ukraine.

“Now that the World Cup is over, Spain is getting ready to register for the 2030 World Cup, in which our country will participate together with Portugal and Ukraine. This trio, ready to fight, also represents the message of peace that is always associated with going to sport. We are a good team and we are confident in the quality of our candidacy”summarized the government spokeswoman.

Territorial Policy Minister Isabel Rodríguez guaranteed that the government “strongly supports this candidacy”, which started as an Iberian candidacy and later on October 5 included Ukraine, which was invaded by Russia at the beginning of the year, meanwhile removed from all international football competitions.

UEFA has already expressed its “unconditional support” for the candidacy presented at its headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, which was attended by the three presidents of the three national federations, Portugal’s Fernando Gomes, Spain’s Luis Rubiales and Ukraine’s Andri Pavelko.

With this amount, the Spanish government will, among other things, finance activities to publicize the candidacy in Spain and abroad, as well as the creation of an agency for the coordination and development of events and infrastructure.

Likewise, the amount will create technology support for the candidacy and develop infrastructure for training centers for the country’s national and regional teams.
