Tuesday was declared a holiday in Argentina for the return to the country of the soccer team that won the World Cup on Sunday, its third in history, the local government announced on Tuesday.
The measure was taken after large thousands of people were present both at the airport of Buenos Aires and in the center of the capital itself, waiting for the arrival of the team that beat France 4-2 on penalties in Qatar after the 2-2 in regular time and 3-3 in overtime.
The selection led by coach Lionel Scaloni and Lionel Messi will arrive in Buenos Aires early in the morning, on a flight that will make a stopover in Rome, but will be installed in premises near the airport, in Ezeiza, which belongs to the Argentine Federation itself, because of the hours late.
From Tuesday 12:00 (local time), players and coaches will leave in a caravan with several open-air buses towards the center of the Argentine capital and the place where the main ceremonies for winning the third world title of ‘albiceleste’ will take place.
Argentina had previously celebrated winning the World Cup in 1978 and 1986.
