The 335 fans who were prevented from accessing sports venues in 2021/22 correspond to “the highest number in history in a single sports season”, with almost half from Sporting, reveals a report on violence on Monday associated with sport (RAViD).

“The National Sports Information Point (PNID) has been informed, throughout the 2021/22 season, of the entry into force of 335 bans on access to sports venues, which represents an increase of 109.4% compared to the season 2020/2020.21, in which 160 interdiction measures came into force”, says RAViD, to which the Portuguese agency had access today.

The RAVid, prepared by the PNID, based in the Public Security Police (PSP), and by the Authority for the Prevention and Combat of Violence in Sport (APCVD), highlights that it is “the largest number of interdiction measures in force never in a single sports season in Portugal, which reinforces the growing trend of applying these measures”.

According to the document, of the 335 interdiction measures that came into force last season, 274 of them resulted from a decision by the APCVD (81.8%) and the remaining 61 were determined by the courts (18.2%).

The document, which collects information from the security forces and judicial and administrative authorities, reports that the 335 prohibition measures that came into force in the 2021/22 sports season focused on fans of five clubs (76.2%), specifically from Sporting (138). , followed by Benfica (49), FC Porto (44), Sporting de Braga (13) and Vitória de Guimarães (13).

Most of the reasons why fans were prohibited from entering sports venues last season were related to the possession or use of fireworks (25), incitement to violence, racism, xenophobia (48) and aggression (17).

The RAVid also indicates that there were 537 final convictions (which, once the possibility of appeal had been exhausted, already took effect), issued by the APCVD between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022, of which entered into force 274 measures. force force last season.

According to the same document, the majority of the fans who are prevented from entering the stadiums and subject to the interdiction measures determined by the APCVD are men, who mostly reside in the districts of Lisbon (37.6%). , Porto (22.3%) and Braga (12%).

Regarding the distribution by age, 29.9% of fans are between 16 and 20 years old, followed by 21 to 25 years old, with 29%.

The report also mentions that 86.5% of fans are members of Organized Fan Groups (GOA) and 64.9% of the accessory sanctions for prohibition of access to sports venues that came into force refer to periods of between eight and 12 months.

Most of the situations refer to football (97.3%) and, in particular, to the I Liga competition, in which 59.6% of the total sanctions applied in this modality are concentrated.

The PSP, in charge of monitoring the majority of professional soccer matches considered high risk, monitored, last season, 300 fans who were prohibited from attending sports venues by decision of the judicial authorities and by an accessory sanction. decreed by the APCVD.

At the start of the current sports season, PSP was monitoring 244 fans who were unable to enter sports venues.
