The sentence of the Football Leaks process enters this Wednesday in the final arguments, with three days reserved in the Central Criminal Court of Lisbon for the interventions of the Public Ministry (MP), assistants and defense of the accused Rui Pinto and Aníbal Pinto.
Approximately two years and four months after the start of the trial, the group of judges chaired by magistrate Margarida Alves should begin to hear the allegations of the MP, in charge of prosecutor Marta Viegas, who accuses him of committing 90 crimes creator of the electronic platform Football Leaks and the crime of attempted extortion of a lawyer.
Next, the procedural assistants, including the Doyen investment fund, Sporting, the Portuguese Football Federation or the PLMJ law firm, among other entities and personalities, will have to speak in court.
Finally, the final allegations are completed with the interventions of the defenses of Rui Pinto and Aníbal Pinto, who must reaffirm their opposition to the deputy’s accusations.
Rui Pinto, 34, is responsible for a total of 90 crimes: 68 for improper access, 14 for violation of correspondence, six for illegitimate access, directed at entities such as Sporting, Doyen, the PLMJ law firm, the Portuguese Federation de Fútbol (FPF) and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), as well as computer sabotage against Sporting’s SAD and extortion, in the form of an attempt. This last crime concerns Doyen and was the one that also motivated the pronunciation of the lawyer Aníbal Pinto.
The creator of Football Leaks has been free since August 7, 2020, “due to his collaboration” with the Judicial Police (PJ) and his “critical sense”, but he is, for security reasons, included in witness protection in a undisclosed location. and under police protection.
