Mario Silva leaves the Santa Clara technical directorate

Coach Mário Silva left the technical management of Santa Clara, a position he held for almost a year, the Azores club from the I League of football announced on Friday.

“Santa Clara Açores, Futebol, SAD hereby informs the termination of the contract with coach Mário Silva, who was linked until the end of June 2024,” the club said in a statement to journalists.

The Azores formation, which currently occupies the 15th. place in the championship with 13 points in fifteen games, he adds that assistant coach Danildo Accioly will guide the team until a new technical team is found.

On Saturday, at 4 p.m. local time (5 p.m. in Lisbon), the president of the SAD of the islanders, Bruno Vicintin, will hold a press conference at the São Miguel Stadium in Ponta Delgada.

The decision will be made officially the day after the home defeat of the Azores against Sporting de Braga, 4-0, counting for the 15th round.

Mário Silva arrived in Santa Clara on January 10, 2022 and led the club to seventh place in the I Liga in the 2021/22 season, with 40 points.

This season, in the championship, the Azores have eight defeats, four draws and three wins. In the League Cup, the emblem of Ponta Delgada was in last place in Group G by one point.

Before coaching Santa Clara, Mário Silva, 45, spent time in Spain’s Rio Ave, Almería and through FC Porto’s youth academy, where he won a UEFA Youth League in 2019.
