The North American Federation became aware of this and decided to investigate the behavior of 49-year-old Berhalter, whose contract expired after the 2022 World Cup, in which the United States was eliminated in the round of 16, after he was three times had lost. -1 to the Netherlands.
“In the course of this process, U.S. Soccer became aware of potentially inappropriate behavior toward various members of our team by people outside our bodies,” the North American federation revealed.
The choice of coach, which could jeopardize Berhalter’s continuity, is gaining importance as the United States is one of three countries to host the 2026 World Cup, along with Canada and Mexico, the largest ever, expanded to 48 participating teams.
While federal officials won’t make a decision on who will lead the U.S. team to the world tournament, Hudson will take over his fate on an interim basis, starting with friendly games with Serbia and Colombia in Los Angeles.
