Portuguese pilot Joaquim Rodrigues Jr. This Wednesday (Hero) has halted the 45th edition of the all-terrain Dakar rally after a fall during the fourth stage of the race, in Saudi Arabia, the organization announced.
“The Portuguese rider, who gave Hero his first victory last year, fell at kilometer 90 [dos 425] of the special stage and was taken by the Dakar medical team to Hail Hospital with a wound in his left leg,” read the official website of the race.
Joaquim Rodriguez Jr. he was the best placed among the Portuguese riders, in 16th place, having been 10th fastest on motorcycles the day before.
The fourth stage of the race starts and ends in Hail, with a time trial of 425 kilometers.
The 45th edition of the Dakar Rally will take place entirely in Saudi Arabia for the fourth consecutive year, finishing 15th in Dammam, after 14 stages.
