Portugal beats Iceland in World Cup handball debut

The Portuguese handball team lost this Thursday against Iceland, 30-26, in the first match of Group D of the 2023 World Cup, which was played in Kristianstad, Sweden.

The team from the corners still reached the break tied at 15 goals, but ended up losing the match against the Icelanders, who lead the polishes tied with Hungary, which defeated South Korea, 35-27.

On Saturday, Portugal takes on South Korea, closing out their qualifying performance against Hungary on Monday.
