This Friday, the Portuguese handball team remained in the fight for a place in the quarterfinals of the World Handball Championship, beating Cape Verde 35-23, in the second match of Group II of the Main Round.
In Gothenburg, Portugal reached the break to win by just two goals (14-12), but ended up prevailing in the second half, achieving their first victory in this second phase of the competition, after conceding a draw on Wednesday 28-28 with Brazil.
The team occupies second place in Group II, with five points, one less than the leader Sweden and one more against Iceland, third, which they will also face this Friday in Gothenburg.
On Sunday, Portugal will face Sweden in the third and final match of the Main Round.
