Fernando Santos will coach Lewandowski’s Poland

Fernando Santos will be introduced as Poland’s coach tomorrow. The former Portuguese coach arrived in Warsaw this Monday to sign an agreement with the Polish Federation, which also tried unsuccessfully to sign Paulo Bento.

“The choice was not easy, but I believe that with the new coach we will have many good times,” said Cezary Kulesza’s chairman on Twitter without mentioning the Portuguese’s name.

It is the third time in his career that the 68-year-old Portuguese coach will coach a national team. He already coached Greece (from 2010 to 2014) before being a Portuguese coach from 2014 to 2022. Now he takes over the Polish national team with Robert Lewandowski as the main player.

Santos is the second Portuguese to take over Poland, following Paulo Sousa in 2021, having left for Flamengo before taking the Poles to the 2022 World Cup.
