Van Ewijk’s smile and the happy football on the winger who could replace Porro

The athlete’s physical abilities and his attitude in the dressing room make coach Dirk Heesen consider Milan van Ewijk one of the best right-backs in Dutch football today, even without playing for one of the clubs fighting for the title.

I was with him for two and a half years, and now I’ve been following his career. He’s still the same, the same guy with the same smile,” says the former Den Haag coach.

“He is a very competitive player, fast, but also someone who learns very easily, something that is very important for a youngster. He has taken big steps in his career, like the move to Heerenveen. He had a huge impact on the team, a player who serves his teammates well with good crosses. He is a player for the future.”maintains the former coach of Den Haag, who worked with the player at the Dutch club (2018 to 2020).

At 22, Milan van Ewijk is experiencing a moment of affirmation at a club well positioned in the local league. “He is one of the best full-backs in the league, he doesn’t owe anything to the Ajax or PSV players”, considers the coach.

The athlete’s stance in Den Haag pleased Dirk Heesen. “I never had any problems with him. He was a very calm guy, he had the same girlfriend for a long time. He knows what he wants out of life. He always showed that he wants to learn every day, but he’s also funny and always smiling.” He is the protagonist of a cheerful game, which also impresses the fans.

“On the field, he shows the same attitude to get up on the ground, make crosses and try to score goals”, the coach assesses. In the context of the Netherlands youth teams, Ewijk has gained space at various levels up to under-21. “He also makes a difference in the selection. That’s why everyone here talks about him. There have already been rumors of interest from an English club that wants to buy him. And of course, now there is this rumor that he is going to Portugal.”

In the week that he is linked with the lions in replacement of Pedro Porro, Milan van Ewijk admitted that he can change clubs. “I would like to end the season here, but as long as the window is open you never know what will happen,” the player explained to Voetbal Internacional in the Netherlands.
