American football player Jessie Lemonier passed away on Thursday at the age of 25. The causes of death are not yet known and his agent Drew Smith revealed to ESPN that the player would soon become a father as his girlfriend is pregnant.
The news was announced by the Detroit Lions, the NFL team representing the athlete. “We are shocked and saddened by the passing of former Detroit Lion Jessie Lemonier. He was an exemplary teammate and a great young man who left too soon,” the club writes on social media.

Lemonier represented the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020 after finishing his collegiate career at Liberty University. In 2021, he moved to the Lions where he was coached by Kelvin Sheppard, who in December 2021 praised Jessie’s “relaxed” attitude.
After being released by the Lions, Lemonier had a brief stint with the Arizona Cardinals in May 2021. And was recently signed by the Birmingham Stallions ahead of the new USFL season, which begins in April.
