Mourinho’s Roma knocked out by Cremonese in the Coppa Italia

Roma, coached by Portugal’s José Mourinho, were knocked out of the quarter-finals of the Italian Football Cup this Wednesday after losing 2-1 at home to Cremonese, the red lantern of the Italian league.

The outsiders reached the second Coppa semi-final in their history with goals from Dessers, from the penalty spot in the 28th minute, and by Çelik, in his own goal, in the 49th minute, pushing the team away from the Portuguese coach, who still reduced to 90 + 4, by Belotti.

The Portuguese entrusted the goal to his compatriot Rui Patrício, but changed some usual options, leaving the Argentine Dybala and the Englishman Abraham on the bench, ‘owners’ of the attack, who would go into the second half.

In an anemic game, it was the Red Lantern, still without championship victories, to “look” like sixth in Serie A, which the Romans occupied, with another successful game, having beaten Napoli in the previous round off.

Mourinho, who has already won an Italian Cup but with Inter Milan, falls again in the quarter-finals with the capital as in 2021/22, while Cremonese goes to the ‘socks’.

Cremonese will battle for a place in the final against Fiorentina, who won and beat Torino 2-1 this Wednesday, with goals from former Benfica player Luka Jovic (64) and Ikone (89) sealing qualification, as unleashed by Karamoh’s goal (90 +2).

On Thursday, the semi-final table is complete with either Lazio or Juventus battling for the right to face Inter Milan in the final round before the final.
