Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, back at the head of the Iranian football team, admitted on Tuesday that “when the family calls home, all you have to do is show up”.
Carlos Queiroz, 69, turned to the social network Facebook to confirm that he is “fully committed to his duties and ready for the mission” and called for the union of all stakeholders to implement the new project.
The Portuguese coach is back in charge of the Iranian national team, which he led for eight years between 2011 and 2019, and will guide the Asian team through the closing stages of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Carlos Queiroz, successor to Croatian coach Dragan Skocic, qualified the Asian team while he was leading Iran for the 2014 and 2018 World Cups, which were held in Brazil and Russia respectively.
