Salgueiros rejects aggression against referee

The Porto club, through a statement, rejects any aggression, condemning “the rapid dissemination of false information that is circulating and that will surely have led, in the first instance, to the error of judgment of many people.”

This Sunday’s match between Salgueiros and Marítimo B, on matchday 14 of Série B of the Portuguese Championship, was interrupted in the 87th minute due to an assault by a Porto player on referee João Loureiro.

The Salgueiros player Amadu Turé – winter reinforcement – saw the red card after having attacked an opponent when the score was tied (1-1). The striker reacted with an alleged attack on the referee of the match after the card was reprimanded.

After the Arbitration Council of the FPF and the APAF condemned this incident, Salgueiros guaranteed not to condone “unsportsmanlike attitudes that condition the normal development of a football match that aims to be a worthy and attractive sporting spectacle for fans, families and football lovers who defend eradication”. of the phenomenon of violence in sport, and any act of indiscipline will be condemned and dealt with internally”, reads the club’s statement.

Salgueiros also says that he will wait for the date to be scheduled to complete the remaining minutes of the meeting. The Porto club also reports that it will request a hearing from the Portuguese Football Federation and the Arbitration Council.
