Paulinho’s appeal rejected. Attacker misses matches with Rio Ave and FC Porto

“The current improper hierarchical appeal is rejected and the contested disciplinary decision is thus confirmed,” the CD of the FPF said in a statement.

The ‘leões’ striker was sent off in the 63rd and 71st minutes in the League Cup final against FC Porto, which the ‘dragons’ won 2-0 after two yellow cards.

Paulinho was eventually punished with a total of three games of suspension, one because of the exclusion in the match and two more games for words addressed to the refereeing team led by João Pinheiro.

“After leaving the field of play, already sent off, he went with the finger of his right hand to the fourth referee and said ‘corrupt, corrupt, you are corrupt’,” the CD said, citing the referee’s report.

The striker has already served one match suspension, against Sporting de Braga, and will now have to comply with the two imposed on him for “injuries and breaches of reputation”, which were also worth a fine of 2,550 euros.

Paulinho will therefore miss today’s visit to the Rio Ave ground, in the 19th round of the I Liga, as well as the reception to FC Porto in the next round, scheduled for Sunday, at Estádio José Alvalade.
