The appeal submitted by Sporting to the three-match ban for the three-match ban imposed on striker Paulinho following the incidents in the League Cup final against FC Porto was rejected by the Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF).

The Sporting striker was sent off in the 72nd minute for accumulating yellow cards, which earned him the suspension of the game. However, according to the statement from the Disciplinary Board, the player was suspended for two more games for “injuries and offenses against the reputation” of the referees.
“After leaving the field of play, already expelled, he addressed the 4th referee with the finger of his right hand saying ‘corrupt, corrupt, you are corrupt,'” the statement said.
